EU Data Act iiyama statement

EU Data Act

Statement on EU Data Act, Regulation 2023/2854

Date: September 12, 2025

The EU Data Act (Regulation (EU) 2023/2854) applies to certain hardware products and associated services controlling those products,  defined as “connected products” and “related services.” This document provides information relevant to iiyama’s Android display devices. For the purposes of the EU Data Act, iiyama International is the data holder of product data generated by these products and services  and is committed to ensuring transparency and safeguarding user rights regarding access, retrieval, and deletion of such data in line with the Regulation.

Key User Rights

Users have the right to access, retrieve, share, and delete data generated by their devices. Data is provided in structured, commonly used, machine-readable formats. Access is free of charge for users and may be shared with third parties upon request.

1. What types of data are generated during the use of your iiyama connected product?

Data NameDescriptionFormatVolumeContinuously GeneratedStorage LocationStorage Duration
OSD SettingsConfiguration parameters, including brightness, contrast, input source, audio, and display modes.json<10KBNoDevicePersistent
Activity logSystem logs can be retrieved via ADB/debug.Text16 MBYesDeviceTemporary
Performance metricsRuntime values such as CPU load, memory usage, network throughput, and frame timing, processed in real time.Numeric< 1 MB per dayYesNot storedNot stored

2. Data storage and retention

iiyama does not normally collect or retain on its servers the data generated by your device during use. Instead, most product data (such as activity logs and OSD settings) is stored locally on the device, and certain runtime performance metrics are only processed in real time without being saved.

3. How you can access, retrieve, share and delete data

Direct access on device or upon request

Where technically feasible, data is made directly accessible to the user. If not feasible, iiyama will make readily available data (and necessary metadata) upon a simple electronic request from the user. Data is provided without undue delay, in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format, and—where relevant and technically feasible— continuously and in real time. Access for the user is free of charge.

Sharing with a third party of your choice

At your request, iiyama will provide the same data to your nominated third party under the Act’s conditions (format, quality, security, continuity). DMA “gatekeepers” are not eligible recipients. iiyama may require reasonable (FRAND) compensation from the third-party recipient for the costs of making data available (but not from the user).

Security and confidentiality

If requested access risks serious adverse effects on health, safety, security or would disclose trade secrets without adequate protective measures, iiyama may propose proportionate safeguards or—where necessary—limit or refuse access consistent with the Regulation. Third-party recipients must comply with statutory use restrictions (no competing product use, maintain confidentiality, erase when no longer needed, etc.).

Deletion

Users can delete locally stored data via device settings or by performing a factory reset. Where iiyama holds data in a cloud service (only if enabled by the customer), we provide deletion mechanisms in those services as well. (Personal data deletion requests are handled under GDPR.)

4. Pre-contractual transparency (what we tell you before purchase/lease)

Before you commit to a connected display or related service, iiyama (or our seller/lessor/provider) will clearly explain: data types, formats, volumes, whether data is in real time, storage/retention, how you can access/export/erase it, who the data holder is and how data may be used/shared, and any limits (e.g., trade secrets).

5. Access-by-design timeline (product design)

iiyama continues to update product design so that units placed on the EU market on or after 12 September 2026 provide easy, secure, default access to product/related service data in structured, commonly used, machine-readable formats, with direct access where technically feasible. (This design duty is in addition to the general access duties that already apply from 12 September 2025.)

6. Exceptional need requests (public sector)

In narrowly defined cases of exceptional need (e.g., public emergency response), iiyama may be required to make specific data available to competent public bodies under strict purpose, security, and deletion rules.

7. Contact and Data Request Channel

  • For any questions or concerns, please contact us via: develop@iiyama.com
  • When filing a request please include device model/serial, your role as user, requested data period/type, and (if sharing) the third party’s details and purpose.

8. Ongoing compliance programme

This statement reflects the current data handling practices of iiyama as of September 2025 and will be updated as our compliance programme under the EU Data Act develops.
